Commonly worn Skyline R32-R34, AE86 and JZA80 Supra parts with genuine Nissan and Toyota part numbers

Skyline R32–R34, AE86 & Supra: Commonly Worn Parts and Their Genuine Part Numbers

JDM heroes like the R32–R34 Skyline, the AE86 Corolla and the JZA80 Supra are getting old, and so are their bushes, seals and belts. The good news is that many genuine parts are still made and sold in Japan, even when Australian dealers can't get them. Here are the common wear items and the genuine part numbers to look for.

Always check part numbers against your chassis number before ordering. Japanese catalogues split parts by model, production date, engine and gearbox, and many numbers have been superseded.

Nissan Skyline R32, R33, R34 (and Silvia/180SX)

Sloppy 5-speed shifter

The RB and SR 5-speed shifters use a plastic socket and bushes that wear, giving a vague, rattly gear lever.

Part Nissan part number Notes
Control lever socket assembly 32870-V5003 Listed for Skyline, Silvia/180SX, 300ZX and Laurel
Control lever bush 32861-H7301 Small bush at the end of the shifter; check fitment

Clutch master cylinder

A worn clutch master cylinder can lead to a pedal that drops to the floor and gears that won't select. Owners also warn that the wrong fluid can damage the seals. Nissan's clutch master piston kit 30611-AA025 (now superseded by 30611-21U25) is listed across many Skyline, Silvia and Stagea models. The bore size varies by car, so confirm yours.

Other known weak points

R34 GT-R buyer's guides point to coil packs, split vacuum lines and worn synchros (jumping out of first) as common problems.

Toyota AE86 Corolla Levin / Sprinter Trueno

The AE86 is light and simple, but at nearly 40 years old rust, worn suspension bushes, leaking dampers and timing belts are common checks. Inside, the shift boot is a cheap, easy refresh:

Some genuine AE86 parts are now discontinued or back-ordered, so it's worth buying while they're still available.

Toyota JZA80 Supra (2JZ-GTE)

The 2JZ-GTE is famously tough, but its timing belt, tensioner and idler still need regular replacement, and a head gasket is a common job on modified engines. Worn valve stem seals (oil use) and leaking targa roof seals also come up often.

Part Toyota part number Notes
Cylinder head gasket 11115-46052 2JZ-GTE, Supra 1994–98
Timing belt 13568-49036 Replaces several earlier numbers
Timing belt tensioner 13540-46030 Replaces 13540-46011 and -46012
Idler pulley with bracket 13505-46041 Tensioner bracket with idler

Replace the belt, tensioner and idler together. A failed tensioner or idler can take out the belt.

Where to get genuine parts in Australia

Local dealers can still order some of these, but expect long waits for 30-year-old JDM-only models. We live in Japan and buy genuine parts here, either as ready-made kits in our JDM parts range or individually through our import-from-Japan service. Send us your chassis number and we'll confirm the right part numbers before you pay.

What does "superseded" mean?

The manufacturer replaced the old part number with a new one. The new part fits in place of the old one.

Can you find parts not listed here?

Yes. Send us the part number or a photo and we'll check availability in Japan.
